The Florida pest management profession faces a constant stream of challenges. To meet these challenges, our profession must forge ahead with technology, management practices, training, regulatory changes and customer service. We represent billions of dollars and over 100,000 jobs.
This program is designed to give participants a mile-wide, but inch– deep view of how leadership influences our lives and industry. During this program participants will be exposed to new insights about themselves, others and the world around them in a range of aspects from policy to personality.
The FPMA Leadership Program is just the beginning as you step up to the plate and make changes as a leader and take charge of our industry.
The intent of this program is to broaden the perspective of the participants and entrust them to become engaged leaders in the pest control industry. By becoming involved at different levels and understanding the importance of that involvement, the participant will be better prepared to eventually communicate and formulate policy change.
The target audience is industry members in the private sector who have experienced leadership roles and aspire for greater leadership responsibilities. Part of our selection process is to look for those candidates that exhibit leadership qualities and demonstrate potential for long term leadership.
The program will encompass five seminars spanning the year. Seminars will be two-day courses and in some cases will overlap other industry events at the same location.
The seminars will be led by FPMA Leadership Directors and will include speakers from universities, industry, lobbyists, politicians, regulators and more.
The grand result of this experience will help to prepare leaders to find solutions that shape the future of Florida’s pest management profession.
Program Standards and Expectations
Participants will be responsible for travel to and from seminars. Some meals will be provided. Many of the seminars are located at industry events that participants will be required to attend.
Attendance to all seminars, in their entirety, will be required. Your full attention is required Failure to attend will result in dismissal from the program. Participants must make arrangements with their employer to secure the seminar dates well in advance. Dress code will be business casual, unless otherwise noted. Additional policies for electronic devices, participation and travel arrangements will be provided. Violators of these policies can mean program dismissal.
Participants will be required to pay the $2,000 enrollment fee prior to the first seminar. The programming fees are heavily offset by contributions from the FPMA Foundation, industry partner sponsors and other contributors.
Participants will graduate at the FPMA Summer Conference and receive recognition for their participation. Graduates become alumni and will nominate the following year’s candidates as well as participate, when possible, in future FPMA Leadership functions.
